YFU USA UPDATE: COVID-19

YFU USA is monitoring the latest information and official directives concerning the novel COVID-19 to assess and decide action steps to keep YFU students safe. The health and wellbeing of our students is YFU’s core aim and responsibility. Our actions are guided by this.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, YFU’s Global Office has been closely monitoring the spread of the novel coronavirus, using both information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and reliable local sources. A YFU Global Crisis Response Team has been set up, responsible for monitoring and coordinating measures for all YFU offices. YFU has already made the decision to terminate programs in China during the early stages of the outbreak, based upon information and recommendations at that time, especially with regards to schools being closed for an unforeseeable duration and severe travel restrictions being imposed.
Concerning YFU USA action and decisions for our students, YFU will follow travel directives from the US Department of State (DoS) (outbound) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (inbound) in coordination with health safety guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), YFU Global Office direction, and YFU partner country counsel.
