Celebrating Transatlantic Bonds: USA For You and CBYX Programs Recognized by the White House

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news for November! In honor of President Biden’s recent visit to Germany, the White House has recognized several impactful youth exchange programs—including our very own USA For You and Germany For You programs, alongside the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX)—for their role in strengthening the U.S.-Germany partnership.

USA For You: A Mission of Civic Engagement and Cultural Understanding

Since its launch in 2016, USA For You has welcomed young people from underserved communities in Germany for two-week homestays in the United States. The program promotes civic engagement and addresses issues like extremism and xenophobia, nurturing cross-cultural understanding. The German government has reciprocated with the Germany For You program, which invites American students to experience life in Germany, broadening horizons and deepening the connections between our two countries.

Positive Impact on Alumni

A recent survey conducted by the German US Embassy captured just how profound the impact of USA For You has been on its participants:

  • Broader Influence: 55% of alumni encouraged others to pursue exchanges or travel to the U.S., amplifying the program’s reach.
  • Perception Shift: 71% of respondents reported a more positive view of the United States.
  • Continued Connections: Nearly half of the alumni stay in touch with their American host families, and many have returned to the U.S. or engaged in additional exchange programs.

These alumni are more than just former participants—they’re ambassadors for cultural understanding, helping foster a deeper appreciation of the U.S. in communities across Germany.

This White House recognition underscores the power of exchange to bridge divides and build lasting friendships. We’re honored to be part of this movement and grateful to every host family, student, and supporter who contributes to the legacy of these programs. Here’s to many more years of fostering mutual understanding and shaping the next generation of global citizens!
