YFU USA Welcomes Andrew J. Hullinger as New Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Accomplished executive to oversee accounting and finance for leading international exchange organization on news of retirement of current CFO

Washington, DC (February 29, 2016) – Youth For Understanding USA (YFU) is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew J. Hullinger, an accomplished senior level executive recognized for his successes in finance and change management initiatives, business leadership and strategic planning as its new Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  Hullinger replaces Kristen Conte, who will retire from YFU USA at the end of March 2016.

An experienced administrator in finance and operations management within both the nonprofit and public school realm, Hullinger joins YFU with more than 29 years of professional experience implementing financial controls and processes to streamline business operations. Most recently, Hullinger served as Director of Budget & Financial Systems for Alexandria City Public Schools. Prior to this, he has served as the Senior Director of Finance & Administration for the Washington National Cathedral; Director of Financial Planning & Decision Support for the Children’s National Medical Center; and as a Management Engineer for Georgetown University Hospital.

An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin, Hullinger holds a BS in Industrial Engineering.

Hullinger’s appointment comes on the news that current Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Kristen Conte will retire at the end of March 2016 after more than two years of making significant improvements at YFU USA and setting the organization on the most solid financial path in its recent history.

“We are fortunate to welcome an executive of Andrew’s caliber to the YFU team,” said Michael E. Hill, President & Chief Executive Officer. “His wealth of experience and industry knowledge will make him an incredible asset to the organization and those we serve. Not only does he bring substantial financial management experience, he also brings the unique experience of serving a major educational system.  All of this will serve YFU’s mission well.”

“While we anticipate great things from Andrew, we are grateful for the incredible leadership that Kristen has provided for more than two years. Her work has set YFU on a strong financial footing for the future, and Andrew and his team are fortunate to inherit the foundation she has set for YFU,” Hill said.

“I am honored to join the leadership team at YFU, and look forward to building on the work of those who preceded me,” Hullinger said. “I am eager to be a part of the YFU journey, as we address the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Hullinger will officially join YFU on March 7, 2016, and will overlap with Conte for a month, ensuring a smooth transition for the institution.
