It is with sorrow that we share that earlier last month, Former Chairman of the Board for YFU Inc., John C. Whitehead died in his home in New York at the age of 92.
John was well known for his major philanthropic efforts including working on behalf of YFU, and also alongside other nonprofits such as the Andrew Mellon Foundation, the United Nations Association, the Brookings Institution, the National Gallery of Art, the International Rescue Committee and many others.
“John served as a tireless advocate for Youth For Understanding, serving as Chair of our Board of Trustees and bringing his rich skills and talents to bear for the young people participating in our program,” said Michael E. Hill, President & CEO. “Our sympathies go out to his entire family as does our gratitude for sharing this giant of a man with us.”
