Prospective Students

Studying abroad is more than a global education, it’s a personal education. Through an intercultural exchange, you’ll learn more about yourself through the experiences you encounter.

YFU offers high school and college students a unique opportunity to study in the US. As a YFU exchange student, you’ll gain the knowledge, skills, and insights that will prepare you to be a global citizen. Even the smallest interactions with your friends, teachers, and community members will teach you something new – about the people, the culture and, of course, yourself.

If living in the United States for a year, semester or a few weeks while learning about a totally different culture sounds like your kind of challenge, then it’s time to come to the USA with YFU.

HIGH SCHOOL (15-18 YEARS OLD)

Traditional Homestay Program

For 65 years, YFU has welcomed high school students to live with a host family and attend a local high school. Today, nearly 2,000 YFU high school students come to the U.S. each year from more than 70 countries. As a YFU exchange student, you’ll go to high school, become a member of a caring host family, and learn about the United States as a resident, not a tourist.

Youth Short-Term Programs

Join YFU students from around the globe on a two-week adventure in the USA. YFU offers various themed programs including “Culture and Language”, “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math”, “Politics and Debate”, and “University Visit”. Explore your options,  join fellow global classmates and live with an American host family next year!

Young Adult Program (17-23 YEARS OLD)

Community College Program

Community colleges in the US are 2-year schools for post-secondary education that serve as a pathway for University study. For more than 20 years, the Community College Program has welcomed YFU’s young adult participants to pursue a mix of English as a Second Language and academic coursework for a semester, a year, or a two-year Associate Degree at our partner community colleges. Are you ready to experience college life in the US?
