If a student's ID card has not arrived in the mail yet, students may call Aetna with their name and date of birth to confirm coverage and make inquiries.

Pre-authorization for medical care is not required. Aetna will indicate providers who bill Aetna directly. If an in-network provider is not available, students may seek care outside the network; however, Aetna pays only the reasonable and customary charges. Students and their natural parents are responsible for any amount above that. Students may be required by the medical provider to pay the medical bill in full and file a claim for reimbursement through Aetna.

Congress-Bundestag Students - ASPE Plan
YFU German Congress-Bundestag program students are insured on the ASPE plan provided by the US Department of State. YFU Germany provided insurance materials to the students prior to departure for the USA.
