CCP Overview
Youth For Understanding USA's Community College Program (CCP) has experienced growth in student numbers and member colleges since it was first started nearly 20 years ago. Our partner colleges welcome YFU's young adult participants to pursue a mix of English as a Second Language and regular academic coursework for a semester, a year, or a two-year Associate’s Degree. Since the program inception, over 3,000 students from more than 35 countries have taken on the challenges of US college life and become local community members.
Most followed the YFU tradition of living with an American host family; others opted to experience life with their fellow students in college residences. Their studies have encompassed a variety of subjects, ranging from pre-Iaw to liberal arts and hotel restaurant management. The CCP program provides participants diverse educational opportunities through academic and cultural experiences and the participants bring a wealth of intercultural perspectives to the colleges and their communities.
CCP inaugurated its study abroad options for US college students recently by offering programs in coordination with YFU Denmark. US college students will explore sustainable energy and agricultural issues on a 17-day program. Home stays with Danish families will complement the seminars and hands-on field work will earn participants up to three college credits.
Whether you live abroad and wish to come to the United States or are a US citizen and wish to study abroad, Youth For Understanding USA has a Community College Program that is right for you!
