Welcome to the YFU USA Community College Program!
Community colleges are very popular forms for students to work towards their Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in the US. Typically smaller schools in more intimate communities, these colleges provide students a more affordable way to receive an education. With smaller class sizes, students have the opportunity to not only get to know their fellow students better, but also receive more one on one support and aisstance from teachers as well.
Students choose between living with a host family, while others choose to experience college life with their fellow students in a dorm. Students who choose to live in a dorm will still spend time with an American mentor family and experience American family life and values. The Community College Program provides diverse educational opportunities to participants through engaging academic and cultural experiences on their campus at least once a month that reflect the true American college experience.
Once on campus, students receive support from a designated staff member, a Campus Coordinator, who help with classes, planning a schedule, integration into campus, as well as organizing activities for international students. Some Campus Coordinators have been with YFU for 20 years, that's how much they love what they do!
If you are an international student who has completed your secondary school education and desire to come to the US for undergraduate (post-secondary) study, consider the YFU Community College Program.
Current and prospective students and host families should review the program handbook, our brochure, and our other pages for more information. We have translated some of the items from the handbook into Chinese and Korean.
